For the “Through the Eyes of”- series, we have asked our team to tell us a bit how they experienced working at Forward And Thinking, how they have developed and what they think of the agency. We can tell you so much about how amazing the team is, but we thought it’s better to hear it from themselves!
Name: Georgia Hall
Job Title: Junior Creative
Why do you like working at Forward And Thinking?
Within a week of working at Forward And Thinking, I knew I was in the right place. F&T has a vibe about it that’s completely different to any other workplace I have encountered. My first week on the job included a day out to Leeds in which we played crazy golf, drank fancy cocktails (maybe more than we should have) and ate till our hearts were content – what more could you ask for? Life at F&T is fun, high-spirited and most importantly authentic. The team are what make Forward And Thinking and my contribution towards the company is truly appreciated by both my manager and the company Directors.
What has been your greatest achievement?
Surprisingly, the job itself.
I joined Forward And Thinking in September of last year as their Marketing Assistant Apprentice. I was fresh out of university and had a degree in Interior Architecture. Although my degree was not ‘specific’ to the role, my skills and training were transferable to many of the duties and requirements of the position. So, I applied…and got it! The real achievement, however, would be the surprise offer that followed just three months later. My department manager, Marina and the company Directors Andrew and Alison Johnson, had formed a new role within the company for me as a Junior Creative that would see all my expertise and graduate education put to use. I accepted the role in a heartbeat and I’ve never looked back since.
Have you learnt a lot whilst being at Forward And Thinking? What Training / development have you enjoyed the most?
There isn’t a day that goes by where I don’t learn something new.
But if it’s got to be anything, it’s how to work as part of a team. At university, you learn to work independently. Your work is often your own and you tend to become a bit of a hermit when it comes to completing tasks. At Forward And Thinking, I’ve learnt how to become part of a team and how to listen, ask questions, accept advice and offer it at the same time. Better yet, the team around me are really knowledgeable. They truly are experts within their own field and being able to bounce ideas from one another is really magical.
Tell us about your team?
Well, first there’s Marina. Forward And Thinking’s Group Marketing and Communications Manager. Or, as I like to say…the half German, half Persian, incredibly hilarious, legend in her own right, mum of one and absolute powerhouse, M. Marina welcomed me to her team with open arms and I couldn’t think of anybody else I’d rather work alongside. Together, we’ve been shaping the F&T brand one day at a time, her trust and confidence in my work and decisions I am truly grateful for.
Then, there’s Lydia. Lydia joined Forward And Thinking shortly before the coronavirus lockdown as an intern whilst studying Media and Popular Culture at Huddersfield University. She has a mean work ethic, can chug out content like there’s no tomorrow and isn’t afraid of stepping in front of the camera if it means getting the job done! Lydia returning and helping the team once more during lockdown has been a massive help for marketing.
Tell us about a recent project you worked on or a nice encounter you had with a co-worker.
If only I could!
Marketing are currently working on an incredibly exciting project for Forward And Thinking that we are hoping to reveal later this summer. It’s a task that not only marketing but the entire team have wanted to see evolve and I can’t tell you how happy it makes me that we’ve been given the opportunity to do so. Keep your eyes peeled. That’s all I’ll say.
Explain Forward And Thinking in three words?
Genuine. Supportive. Evolving.
Thank you so much for sharing, Super-G! We cannot wait what you’ve got in store for us… 😉
